Dr. Đăng Lãnh Hoàng was born in Vietnam in 1948. After completing his studies in chemistry, he earned a doctorate in the field. In 1988, Dr. Hoang joined the Central Institute for Physical Chemistry of the AdW of the GDR in Berlin as a research associate, where he worked until 1991. From 1992 to 2014, he was a research associate at the Institute of Applied Chemistry Berlin-Adlershof and at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis at the University of Rostock.

In his free time, he writes short stories, including the work "Mauerfallen – Stories of a Vietnamese Berliner" from 2021. He also works as a translator of literary texts and has written works such as "In Times of the Waning Light s" by Eugen Ruge (Hanoi, 2016), "Deutschstunden" by Siegfried Lenz (Hanoi, 2019) and "Metropol" by Eugen Ruge (Hanoi, 2022) from German translated into Vietnamese.

Furthermore, Dr. Hoang has assisted in the translation of the book "Vietnam-Myths and Realities" by Jörg Wischermann and Gerhard Will (Bonn, 2021). He also translates works from Vietnamese into German, such as "Das große Los" by Vu Trong Phung (Tauland-Verlag, 2021). Dr. Hoang enjoys great recognition in the translation industry and received the "Translator of the Year" award in Vietnam in 2018.
