Angela Köckritz, born in Munich, studied political science, sinology and art history in Berlin, Munich and Tainan, Taiwan. She completed a traineeship at Süddeutsche Zeitung and began working as an international reporter and editor for Die ZEIT in 2007. From 2011 to 2014 she was China correspondent for Die Zeit, and from 2017 to 2020 Africa correspondent based in Senegal. She now lives in Berlin as a freelance journalist, author and podcaster. Her journalistic work has received several awards, such as the Merics Prize for Outstanding China -, the Friedrich Vogel Prize for Special Business Reporting and the German Journalism Award. In 2020 she was Journalist in Residence at the Social Science Research Center Berlin, in 2023 Visiting Scholar at Chengchi University, Taipei with a Taiwan Fellowship. Angela Köckritz is the author of the books "Wolkenläufer" (2015) and "Freude" (2022). As part of the Berlin Asia Arts Festival, she will be a guest at the Pop-Up Teahouse Salon at C*SPACE Berlin on September 21 for a talk and reading.
