27. September 2025, 15 Uhr: 4 Workshops

Saturday, September 27, starting at 3:00 p.m. at C-Space Berlin (Weißensee, Langhansstr. 86)
The POP-UP TEAHOUSE is open.

Design & Craftsmanship – 4 workshops from 3 to 6 p.m. in C-Space:

At a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming part of our everyday lives, analog design and craftsmanship are taking on a special appeal. They represent not only human creativity, but also decades of artistic practice and the continuation and reinterpretation of traditional cultural techniques. As poetic and political gestures, they have a sensual and immediate effect—a tangible expression of cultural continuity, identity, and quiet perseverance in the face of changing times.

The Berlin Asia Arts Club Design Edition brings together artists and designers who work with their hands, materials, and memories in their creative process. Embroidery, printing, drawing, and design are practiced across disciplines and cultures—the audience is invited to experience these processes firsthand and participate in them themselves.

Workshops accompanied by open pop-up studios:

  • Comics & Illustration: Speech Bubbles in Comics
With Maki Shimizu (Tokyo–Berlin), comic artist and illustrator who combines Japanese aesthetics with European storytelling traditions. Her work explores storytelling through lines, drawings, and prints.

  • Ink & Materials: Drawing from Literature
With Walter Yu(Beijing–Berlin), painter, poet, and author, known for his delicate, meditative ink works. His motifs and materials are deeply influenced by literary language and imagination.

  • Embroidery & Self: Between Nature, Culture, and Contemplation
With Yurika Saito (Tokyo–Berlin), visual artist who works with embroidery, natural dyeing, and painting. Her works reflect inner landscapes and the quiet rhythms of nature.

  • Objects Between Cultures – Printing Workshop
With Yimeng Wu (designer/illustrator) – Studio Wu 無 & Tao Hai Yue (curator/artist) – Normal Normal, which deals with the encounter between graphics, culturally coded objects, places, and identities. Their linocut printing workshop opens up a tangible dialogue between East and West.
