A spiritual journey: SWALLOW AND SAMSARA is a story about the origin of the self and the search for identity. It begins with the existential question of the “I” and follows a journey in which illusions (Maya) are cast aside and inherited ideas about the self are rejected. The protagonist, the “I,” questions a father figure—God, the guide and guardian of order—and abandons the identity attributed to him. In its place, he creates his own sense of belonging, his own nationality, and his own meaning. On this journey, the Gauthali (swallow) appears, a symbol of loyalty, return, and reunion. Yet the search continues. The “I” ventures into nature, falls in love with another who is ultimately a reflection of himself, and discovers deeper connections to the world around him. Time brings separation, but also reunion: the swallows return in the form of water, and from their union emerges the image of a tree reflected in a river. The story ultimately becomes a meditation on love, loss, transformation, and rebirth, suggesting that the self is not fixed but is continually recreated through the endless cycle of Samsara.
